All new members of Tri Delta participate in an 8-week new member education program. This program is designed to welcome new members to the Fraternity and to educate them on the history, traditions and responsibilities of Tri Delta membership.
∆ New Member Educators – Two officers, the New Member Educator and Assistant New Member Educator, are charged with the primary responsibility of educating the new members. They implement the program designed by Delta Delta Delta fraternity while also planning events and opportunities to integrate new members to our Chapter.
∆ Alpha Sisters - On Bid Day, each new member is given an Alpha Sister, a member of the senior class who will help welcome the new member to our chapter and be a resource for her little Alpha Sis. Alpha Sisters live the PURPOSE OF DELTA DELTA DELTA, “to assist its members in every possible way.”
∆ Bigs & Littles – During the course of new member education period, every new member will receive a Big Sis. During Big/Little week, new members receive presents and surprises from their Bigs. Bigs are revealed to their Littles on the final night of Big/Little week. In addition to “assist[ing] its members in every possible way,” Bigs and Littles truly “establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members.” (PURPOSE OF DELTA DELTA DELTA) A Big is a new mentor and friend for her Little, assisting her in her transition to sorority life and always looking out for her best interest.
∆ New Member Retreat - During the new member period, new members
participate in a new member retreat. On the retreat, new members’ bonds of
sisterhood strengthen and they learn more about Tri Delta from the new member
educators and visiting officers. This past year, the new members cleaned a local
park.
∆ New Member Integration – The new member period aims to integrate new
members into our chapter, through education, providing opportunities to bond as a
pledge class, and providing opportunities to bond with upperclassmen sisters. Our
Chapter respects that Tri Deltas have academic and extracurricular priorities
beyond Tri Delta and accommodates obligations that may conflict with the New
Member Program.
