Scholarship

  • “to broaden the moral and intellectual life” – PURPOSE OF DELTA DELTA DELTA

The members of the Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Delta Delta are encouraged to pursue their full academic potential. We are extremely proud to have a strong average GPA that surpasses both the all-women’s scholastic average on campus and that of all of the other Greek organizations on campus. As a minimum, the members of the Gamma Mu chapter are expected to maintain an average GPA of 2.3 or higher to remain a member, 2.8 to hold an office, and 2.5 in order to be a sponsor, though members often surpass these requirements.  Sisters struggling to meet these requirements are provided with the help and support they need, in the case that they are unable to meet these requirements.  We are committed to the academic success of all sisters. Congratulations to all of our sisters, we have the highest Sorority GPA Average!

  • Academic Tea
The Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Delta Delta hosts an academic tea at the chapter house every spring to honor the academic achievements of its members and showcase the achievements of its seniors. Seniors invite their favorite professors to the tea and are given the chance to volunteer a few words about any academic opportunities that have influenced them such as research opportunities, internships, externships, journals, etc.

    Academic Presentations
The Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Delta Delta highly encourages the attendance of its members at academic presentations. Presentations vary from semester to semester. The spring ’10 semester members were lucky enough to enjoy a presentation led by special collections at our own library. they were able to see original documents from Lafayete Alum and look into the history of Lafayette.

    Academic Activities
In order to encourage the scholastic pursuits of our members, the Academic Development Chair of our chapter coordinates academic activities that reward high-achievement as well as effort.

    Academic Challenge

Members of the house are all randomly split into three different “teams” – silver, gold, and blue. Members e-mail their A’s and B’s to the academic chairman, who calculates the “points” for each team. Different academic entrees hold different point values. The team with the most points at the end of the semester wins an ice cream social!

    Gamma Mu Study Room
The members of Gamma Mu are fortunate enough to have a study room in the chapter’s house. Members are encouraged to use the room especially during finals week when the library is known to be more crowded than usual.

    No Skippy Jar
Class attendance is crucial in academic success. During chapter each week, the members of Gamma Mu are encouraged to write their name on a blank piece of paper and place it in an empty “Skippy” peanut butter jar if they have not skipped class all week. One person is drawn at random from the jar and receives an educational prize, such as a ruler, pencil set, stapler, etc.
